This sacrament gives us the fullness of the gifts of the Holy
Spirit. On Wednesday 12th June, Bishop Robert was
warmly welcomed to St Patrick’s Consett to confer the
sacrament on forty-one young people from our Family of
Parishes. Since February, candidates, priests and
catechists have met regularly after school at St Bede’s to
take part in the preparation programme. Many were also
able to attend a one-day Retreat at Dukeshouse Wood in
March. The commitment of all the young people to the
programme has been exceptional, as has the support of
their families and sponsors.
Those attending the Confirmation Mass commented on
the beautiful music, readings and bidding prayers which all
were arranged and led by the candidates.
Afterwards, a shared table concluded and celebrated what
had been a very special occasion .
